PHOENIX — Police have identified two people who were shot and killed at a home near 7th Street and Southern Avenue on Sunday evening.
Officers were first called to the home around 7:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds near a vehicle.
One of the victims, 24-year-old Jovanni Burciaga, died at the scene. Sixteen-year-old Mario Banegas died at a hospital. A third man reportedly showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound, but he is expected to survive.
Investigators say Burciaga and Banegas drove to a home in the area and gunfire was exchanged.
The investigation is ongoing and police have not said if any suspects have been identified or whether anyone else was involved.
